Citrus Vinegar Cleaner
One of the first changes we made when embarking on our Zero Waste journey was replacing our household cleansers. Today the, aside from soap, the only cleaning products you will find in our home are white vinegar and baking soda. White vinegar is a natural disinfectant and is truly a “miracle cleaner” that can be used on most household surfaces.
The only downside to vinegar is the smell. In the beginning we used citrus peels to minimize the vinegar scent.
We saved grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime peels in a jar in the fridge. When the jar was full we would fill it with white vinegar and leave it to “marinate” for two to three weeks in a cupboard. Add one part vinegar to four parts water in a spray bottle and you are good to go!
Areas around your home to use:
- Floors and baseboards.
- Windows
- Use along with baking soda for toilet and bathtub or shower stall.
- Kitchen Counters
- Sinks
- Shelves
- Walls
Give it a try and let us know how it worked! Did you add anything else to change the fragrance? We’d love to hear about your experiments.
